Police say they were targeted with arrows as Hong Kong braces for more protests

Authorities said they deployed tear gas and seized six arrows on Thursday morning as they attempted to disperse protesters at Polytechnic University. The city's MTR subway service was also disrupted as stand-offs between pro-democracy demonstrators and police continued. It follows a series of clashes at a number of institutions since the beginning of the week, including the Chinese University of Hong Kong, which was forced to close for the rest of the year.

Rioters continue to block roads and wreak havoc at various districts, seriously jeopardising public safety & order. At around 6:45 AM today (Nov 4), some rioters shot an arrow from the Polytechnic University to several patrolling Police officers at the junction of Austin Road...

In face of the situation, Police officers have deployed tear gas to effect dispersal, during which rioters shot another round of arrows. Then at around 8:50AM, rioters shot the third around of arrows, causing an immense threat to public safety.

Currently, a section of Austin Road close to Nathan Road and Chatham Road South was closed off. In this incident, no Police officer was injured. Six arrows were seized at the scene.
