Craig Taylor James (born May 5, 1941 in Augusta, Georgia) is a lawyer and American politician who was elected to the 101st United States Congress representing Florida's 4th Congressional district in 1988 as a newly registered Republican, defeating William V. Chappell, Jr. by a margin of 50.1% to 49.9%.[1]

James was born in Augusta, Richmond County, Georgia on May 5, 1941. Currently a resides in DeLand, Florida.[2]
Education[edit]
- He graduated in 1959 from DeLand High School in Florida.
- Associate degree from the University of Florida in 1961.
- 1963 he received his B.S. from Stetson University.
- From 1963-1969 he served in the National Guard and United States Army Reserve
- 1967 he attended J.D. Stetson University Law School and received juris doctor.
- Admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in DeLand
Career[edit]
- 1971-1975 he was commissioner of DeLand Housing authority.
- January 3, 1989 – January 3, 1993 was elected as a Republican to the One Hundred First and One Hundred Second Congresses but was not a candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Third Congress.
- Currently a partner in the Deland, FL lawfirm of James and Zimmerman, P.L.
