Discover and assess on-premises VMs

Discover information about your VMware virtual machines, including CPU and memory utilization, disk details, and networks. Group machines for migration assessment with higher confidence by setting up dependency visualization to view dependencies of a single VM or a group of VMs.

Confidently plan your migration

Get advice on rightsizing your cloud resources to proceed with confidence and better control your migration costs based on efficient utilization. If Azure Migrate identifies specific VMs as problematic, follow step-by-step guidance for overcoming the obstacles to help keep your migration on track.

Easily migrate your workloads to Azure

After running a cloud assessment with Azure Migrate, begin migrating your on-premises VMs to Azure using services including Azure Site Recovery and Database Migration Service. Visit the Azure Migration Center to learn more and to find discovery and data migration software tools from our partners.

Step 1 of 4

Discover VMs running in VMware

Begin your migration by discovering the virtual machines running in your on-premises VMware environment.

Step 2 of 4

Download the virtual appliance

Download the Azure Migrate Collector appliance, packaged with all the prerequisites to enable a friction-free discovery of the on-premises environment.

Step 3 of 4

Complete the setup

Configure the virtual appliance to start the discovery of the on-premises environment. The appliance collects VM configuration and utilization data used to assess the VMs for migration to Azure.

Step 4 of 4

Discover your virtual machines

The discovered VMs are now available for analysis in the Azure Migrate project.

Step 1 of 3

Visualize machine dependencies

View the dependencies of a discovered machine.

Step 2 of 3

Group the machines

Group the discovered machines to plan migration of an application as a logical unit.

Step 3 of 3

Visualize group dependencies

Get a deep understanding of the application’s dependencies and detect additional dependencies to avoid surprises during your migration.

Step 1 of 3

Customize your assessment

Plan your migration to Azure by customizing an assessment based on your needs. Drill into specific assessment views, including Azure migration readiness and cost estimates.

Step 2 of 3

View readiness status

View the Azure readiness status of each on-premises machine, see remediation guidance for readiness issues, and learn the best Azure VM and configuration to meet the needs of the on-prem machine.

Step 3 of 3

Estimate your costs

Understand the costs of running the virtual machines in Azure and adjust the assessment properties to meet your Azure plan and region requirements. Export the assessment report and share it with relevant stakeholders.
