How does my organization qualify to use Facebook's fundraising tools?
Facebook fundraising and donations tools are only available to charitable organizations based in certain locations.
To qualify for Facebook fundraising and donation tools, a charitable organization must meet the following criteria:
  • US-based nonprofits must: be a 501(c)(3) organization, be registered with the IRS, have a tax ID number and have a bank account registered with a licensed financial services institution.
  • Charitable organizations based in the countries where Facebook donation and fundraising tools are available must: provide a VAT number (if applicable), a charity registration number (where applicable), a charity registration document issued or approved by a government entity and a bank account registered with a licensed financial services institution.
Sign up to accept donations on Facebook
If the charitable organization meets these criteria, follow these steps to be able to accept donations on Facebook:
  1. Make sure that the charity's Facebook Page category is 'Nonprofit Organization’ or 'Charity Organization' and that its address is included in the ‘About’ section of its Facebook Page.
  2. Sign up for Facebook Payments from a Page admin account.
  3. Accept Facebook's terms of service.
  4. Accept the terms of Business Manager (for organizations that use Business Manager).
Keep in mind that a charitable organization will also be required to provide the following information during the sign-up process for Facebook payments:
  • Date of birth and address of the charity's CEO or executive director.
  • Bank account details including bank name, bank account holder's name (organization's name), a legible and official bank letter or statement dated within the last 3 months, SWIFT Code and bank IBAN number.
  • Charity registration documents if the charitable organization is based in Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, or Spain.

Please note that Facebook may deny or remove access to donation and fundraising tools for organizations that violate Facebook's Community Standards, Legal Terms, or other policies. All applicable terms and policies (for example: vaccine misinformation) are relevant to fundraisers.
