Rihanna is Vogue’s June cover star, and as usual, she’s stunning. Inside the magazine, the singer and costar of the upcoming heist film Ocean’s 8 opened up about turning 30 earlier this year (“Should I be worried? Should I be freezing my eggs?”) and launching her wildly successful makeup line, Fenty Beauty.
Selena is Harper’s Bazaar’s March cover star, and she shot some stunning photos while wearing Coach 1941 pieces. The singer is the face of the fashion house, so no surprise there. The biggest reveal actually came when Selena talked about her personal life, career, and style.
On her choice to write her powerful Huffington Post essay: “My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed. It’s like, why are we only looking at women through this particular lens of picking us apart? Why are we listening to it? I just thought: I have worked too hard in this life and this career to be whittled down to a sad, childless human.”
On meeting Alec: “Many people think we [Alec and I] met in a yoga class, but we didn’t. I met him because of yoga.”
On struggling for privacy: “You might think you know me, but when you approach me you’re a total stranger to me and I’m scared. I get very protective of my space. It took me a long time to be able to do that. But if I’m eating dinner and somebody comes up and a flash goes off from someone’s iPhone camera, I am really rude to that person. Then other people at the restaurant will see and be like, ‘Oh, damn, I don’t want to do that.’ Privacy is a full-time job and I work very hard at it.”
