Legal policies

Trademark

Using someone else's trademark in a username, tags, or the title of your video does not necessarily constitute infringement. However, if there is content on your profile or video that would confuse viewers into believing that the trademark owner created or sponsors your page or content, then the trademark owner's rights may be infringed. In these cases, we may remove the content in question, so it's important to be sensitive to other people's trademark rights when choosing a username or adding metadata to your videos.

If you are a trademark owner and you believe your trademark is being infringed, please note that YouTube is not in a position to mediate trademark disputes between users and trademark owners. As a result, we strongly encourage trademark owners to resolve their disputes directly with the user who posted the content in question. Contacting the uploader may allow for a quicker resolution to your claim in a way that is beneficial to you, the uploader, and the YouTube community. Trademark owners can contact the user or you can submit a complaint directly to the uploader through our Trademark complaint form. Some users list ways they can be contacted in their channel. Learn more about how to contact other users here.

If you are unable to reach a resolution with the account holder in question, please submit a trademark claim through our Trademark complaint form. YouTube is willing to perform a limited investigation of reasonable complaints and will remove content in cases of clear infringement.

Defamation

If you or your legal representative believe that content hosted on YouTube is defamatory, please visit our online webform, where you will be able to submit a complaint.

Counterfeit

Google prohibits the sale or promotion of counterfeit goods in its products, including YouTube. Counterfeit goods contain a trademark or logo that is identical to or substantially indistinguishable from the trademark of another. They mimic the brand features of the product in an attempt to pass themselves off as a genuine product of the brand owner, or they promote the goods as faux, replicas, imitations, or clones of the original product.

Reporting counterfeit goods :

If you believe that a YouTube video or comment is selling or promoting counterfeit goods, you may file a counterfeit complaint through our web form. Our team will investigate your complaint and remove the content if it violates Google counterfeit policy.
