    Toronto got into their own heads tonight after those conceded goals. Just didn’t give themselves enough time to recover. Looked great when they were on but wasn’t enough of that to deserve a win. Maybe too big of a hole to dig out of now...

    I thought Chivas were just not coming out for the anthems, and then I realized that they’re all just too cold to take off their red jackets before kickoff and that’s even better

    Gibson was also second in goals saved above average, he’s a finalist as most outstanding as well.

    Hard to argue against these three but feel bad for John Gibson. Easily the most important goalie to his team this year.

    This six year old used the word devastated to describe how she felt when her puck was taken not once but twice and given to two boys she didn't know around her. I'm glad she finally got it but I hope the guy that stole her puck twice sees this and feels shame.

    This is a huge step forward for the Canadiens. No team has done a worse job running their AHL affiliate over the past five years, in the sense that they weren't developing players OR winning games. Lefebvre's decisions played a big part in that, and many in hockey had noticed so.

    Totalling it up, Montreal actually has more NHL GP with the parent club out of their group so far (922 vs 919), though they lag far behind in goals (65 to 139) and points (225 to 349), which speaks to the level of talent each team is graduating

    In the same (2013-Pres) timeline, the Marlies... - Use 85 U24 skaters for 63% of GP - 36 play 50+ GP for the Marlies - 7 play 50+ GP for the Leafs (add Borgman) - 8 are regular Leafs today (add Dermott, Carrick) - Nylander clear impact player, rest subjective based on definition

    Here's how poorly Montreal have used their AHL affiliate over the past half decade. - Just 68 U24 skaters, accounting for 48% of GP - Just 35 of them played 50+ GP for the affiliate - Just 7 of them played 50+ GP for Montreal - Just 3 are regular Habs today - Zero impact players

    It's a big of A and B for sure. Bergevin and Co. aren't finding good top young players. Lefebvre has a reputation for misusing the ones that he does have, though. Realistically the Canadiens would be wise to clean house entirely, but this is a good starting point.

    Very poor, you're right. I wouldn't pin a high % of this failure on Lefebvre though. But hey, if they want to change the coach... For me, player acquisition is the main culprit.

    For a lot of teams, "zero impact players" on a list like this could just mean that the player proved to be good immediately and got a quick call up. Here's the list of Montreal players that didn't make the 50 game cutoff. Definitely not the case.

    In today's NHL, cultivating a rotation of cost-controlled depth is at least as important as having star players. There has never been a more important time to invest heavily into your AHL program. This needs to be the start of Montreal doing so if they want to succeed long-term.

    I wish it was like, 2-3 degrees colder outside today. This ice storm was garbage, but my building's tennis court is *this* close to being a functional outdoor rink because of it
