As someone going through their own depression battles that also has to be mindful with substances (one side of the family struggles hard with addiction), I've always really appreciated how vocal Rich (and his brothers and ) is and are about their story.

It's cliche but people (in the business, also) tend to rationalize struggles and setbacks by looking at your salaries. They think that because you're making X amount of $$$, you're going to be fine/"it makes it okay" or whatever. Which is total bullshit & is cruel/insulting.

Help is out there. You have to be determined. As for TBI’s that result in an array of other issues including mental health, players like Dan, Nick, or even myself will tell you leagues are not doing enough at all, and we have had a front row seat to the injustice

Athletes are real people and have real problems too. Just because we put on a uniform, perform in front of people for a living, and entertain them by playing a game, doesn't make us super heroes who don't have the same issues, feelings, and emotions as anyone else.

*warning graphic* I understand the mechanism and causation of CTE and I am a Basset Hound. Hey NHL here is the picture book version. Do you see a difference? You are getting ready to get a whole new generation of victims. Numbers can’t be ignored. People will not be ignored.

I really wish more brain banks were involved in CTE research. Hoge suggests that BU has suppressed information and published terrible science. IMO, this focus on one potential negative outcome of head trauma and one center doesn't seem fair to parents.
