    Remember when we hated Kessel for being soft and lazy and not backchecking and said we’d never win with him and then he went on to score more playoff goals than Crosby and Malkin and the entire league over the following 2 Cup winning seasons? We’re much smarter now.

    That's not a shot at either. There are tons of things I'd trust his opinion on well before mine. I've got nothing but good things to say about him and we follow each other's work, so it's all good. I just think the battle of "eyes vs numbers" is won with "both".

    I spend 25+ days a month in rinks, and between media and operations, regularly watch 6 different leagues, and irregularly others. Watching hockey is basically my full-time job, and the rest is overtime. Data is more important to me than it's ever been. You never have enough info

    I’m pretty sure I’ll trust a former NHLer than a nerd behind a computer. People who know hockey make it where they are for a reason. Those who don’t, rely on Microsoft Excel and Twitter for a sense of belonging

    Lowkey, Mavinga has been the straw that stirs this drink for a long time now. As great as TFC has always been offensively in this "window" of the past few years, they've been always at their best when Mavinga is around to clear danger and start the counter.

    Dvorak is two years older than Puljujarvi and was barely better than him last year. If Puljujarvi doesn't end up being much, you've probably got him on a prove-it contract. If Dvorak doesn't end up being much he's still got 5+ years at $4.5M per to be your depth forward. I'd pass
