A Pomona police operation to address an ongoing prostitution problem on Holt Avenue led to five arrests Tuesday, officials said.

All five were booked into jail on suspicion of loitering with intent to commit prostitution, the Pomona Police Department said in a news release.

The sting covered the “Holt Corridor,” a major thoroughfare in Pomona that the release said is “nationally known” as a place for prostitution activity. The operation, using both plainclothes and uniformed vice officers, was conducted in response to several complaints from residents and business owners, the release said. Police plan to carry out more operations in the future.

Two men from Pomona and La Puente, ages 18 and 55, were arrested, along with three women, ages 19-20, from Apple Valley, San Bernardino and Las Vegas, the release said. The La Puente man had been arrested on a similar charge in January.

Pomona police asked anyone with information regarding human trafficking to call them at 909-620-2085. Those wishing to provide information anonymously can call 1-800-222-TIPS.
