It was the fall of 2004 that Team Continuum came suddenly into my life. Paul Nicholls, Team Continuum’s Founder and first President was referred to the travel agency I worked for. As many of us within the agency had been deeply affected by cancer, we soon began to work with Paul on fund raisers and joint projects with our industry suppliers, in heartfelt support of Team Continuum. As one who has always believed in the power of grass-roots efforts and is very hands-on, a true gift of Team Continuum is being able to see the results of donations of funds and/or time. Whether it is helping out at a Team Continuum fund raiser and getting to talk to a cancer patient and family or attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new wing of a hospital being dedicated to Team Continuum, this organization’s mission is clear. Team Continuum knows that cancer patients, their families and care givers need assistance here and now and this support is given in very real ways. This can be through many diverse ways - direct financial assistance to a family overwhelmed by medical bills or giving children fighting cancer the fun of an afternoon at a Broadway musical. And, speaking of children, it is so impressive to me that the annual Team Continuum Holiday Toy Drive donates to hospitals throughout New York City. While facilities in Manhattan tend to receive most of the attention at the holidays, Team Continuum ensures that children in outer borough hospitals receive gifts. Despite losing Founder Paul Nicholls to cancer two years ago, the mission, innovation and creativity of Team Continuum moves into the future under the leadership of Michael Retsina and Letty Simon.
I started raising funds for Team Continuum in 2008. I was introduced to this organization by a father whose son had brain cancer. It was extremely moving to hear him tell how much support; both financial and spiritual; they were given by this charity. Team Continuum works to raise funds for cancer victims and their families. It helps them deal with the every day issues they face; they focus on changing the Cancer into CAN.
My role has been to be an athlete for Team Continuum running marathons and raising money for my miles. The tired feet misery ends at 26.2 miles, but then the joy of helping others takes over and is all empowering. I am proud to run for Team Continuum and to help in this small way.
I've been a proud member of Team Continuum's ING New York City Marathon Team for 7 consecutive years. In that time I witnessed a group of individuals that tirelessly and passionately dedicated themselves to the sole goal of bettering the lives of people living with cancer. These guys operate Terminator style, the can not and will not be stopped.

I participate in Team Continuum's triathlon training program to raise funds for those whose lives have been affected by cancer. The team is so passionate about our cause, which I find contagious, and on top of that, it is a fantastic group of people that has quickly made me feel part of a community and a team. I am wildly enjoying my experience!
I was lucky enough to meet and chat to Team Continuum's founder Paul Nicholls. Despite his obvious failing health, his drive and enthusiasm for this charity knew no bounds. As a family we ran both the New York and the London marathons for Team Continuum. We all knew we were running for Paul and all he stood for. This kept us going through this comparatively small endurance test, small in comparison to what Paul and thousands of others were coping with. We were lucky - our pain was temporary. The spirit of Paul lives on in TC and I am proud that we gave something back to help others less fortunate than ourselves. One run was particularly special - we knew Team Continuum were supporting the family of a young boy receiving treatment for a brain tumour. Its at times like that you understand the vital a role TC plays in keeping a family together and supporting them through such a life crisis. In this hard world compassion goes a long way. TC represents compassion - a truly humane charity.
Team Continuum is a compassionate organization founded by a cancer patient. They are dedicated to helping people with cancer, or people affected by cancer in their family, have an improved quality of life.
* I came across this organization accidently for lack of better word while researching marathons i wanted to run. Team Continuum welcomed me as an athlete to join them is raising funds and awareness on the living effects of cancer. \
* I have personally worked with Letty, Joshi, Grant and Coach John with rainsing funds, developing adds, training, ect.... There focus has always been on improving how to improve the lives of cancer patients while at the same time making it fun for us volunteers to join there caause.
* The strenght of this organization is its leadership personnel, passion for excellence and strong beleif that they are making differences in the lives of those that are on the receiving end of this funds purpose.
I ran in the Boston Marathon in 2008, as a member of Team Continuum.
It was my 4th marathon but the first one where I raised money for a cause; and it turned out to be my most memorable race. The opportunity to play a very small role in hopefully helping someone effected by cancer was very gratifying. And, knowing what a great organization that Team Continuum is, added to the experience. They were very supportive through the entire process and as you progressed though it, you felt like you were really part of team. The marathon is typically a very independant activity but having the responsibility to raise money, helped include others, and as a result, you were running for something bigger than yourself. Simply, a great experience.
while supporting my spouse through NYC and Boston marathons, i observed the Team continuum jersey and wanted to know more about a group with an interesting name. in health care, we often use the word continuum to describe flow of patient care. While looking at their website, i was excited about their focus on the little things we tend to forget about while treating patients, or while focusing on a cure. they were focusing on the present moment of people and families living with cancer.
In November 2010, I was allowed to join Team Continuum Inc. as an athlete, with the agreement that I would raise at least $2,500 for this charity, so I could obtain an automatic entry into the ING 2011 NYC Marathon.
My immediate family, friends, and neighbors, have all suffered through a cancer diagnosis and I couldn't imagine not being there for them. We were all lucky that we and they had family around them to help get them through this difficult period in their life. Unfortunately, there are people who aren't as lucky as others and need love, support, and attention to fight cancer.
One of the many great things about Team Continuum is the support that they give to cancer patients right now when they need it the most. Research is extremely important as well but for someone who is going through this crisis right here and now, Team Continuum is there to support the cancer patients, their families, caregivers, and the local hospitals.
Throught the efforts and support of Team Continuum, the patient can focus on their ability to fight this cancer and not have to worry about food, transportation, accommodations, communications, mortgages and rent as well as many other things they could be stressed about in addition to their cancer fight.
When I told family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers that I was running the ING 2011 NYC Marathon and raising money for Team Continuum, nobody had heard of them. I explained what Team Continuum was and what services they provided. I've lost count on how many people told me what a great deed they were doing and that they wanted to make a donation on my behalf towards Team Continuum. I have a good feeling that raising $2,500 is not going to be a problem.
There is the added benefit of the training that Team Continuum is going to provide all of its athletes in preparing for this years marathon. Team Continuum has some of the best coaches in the area who are providing expert advice on the do's and dont's of marathon training.
I'm excited about the opportunity Team Continuum has provided me. I look forward to raising money for a great organization that is providing a service to people in need of immediate care. I'm glad to know there is someone out there that cancer patients, their families, and hospitals can turn to and count on.
