While the @MLB season officially began on Sunday, Major League Baseball Opening Week is a reminder that fans around the world will turn to Twitter to follow their favorite teams and players and chatter about the news on and off the diamond in real time. But no matter where their allegiances lie, all fans can count on Twitter for nonstop baseball action. And this season, live streams of @MLB games will happen on Twitter.

@MLB will launch its weekly Twitter game of the week on Friday, April 7, with out-of-market live streaming of the World Series Champion Chicago Cubs (@Cubs) taking on the Milwaukee Brewers (@Brewers) at 8:10 p.m. ET.

The game will be available for free to logged-in and logged-out Twitter users on mobile phones, tablets, PCs and connected devices via mlb.twitter.com and @MLB. The live streams will be available worldwide, except in select international territories. Each weekly stream will be a simulcast of the home team’s television broadcast.

Friday’s game is the first of weekly Friday night live streams of out-of-market MLB games Twitter will make available free as part of its partnership with MLBAM.

Below is the April schedule for the Twitter MLB Game of the Week (subject to change).

#CapsOn emoji
To commemorate the start of the new season, Twitter and @MLB are asking baseball fans to wear their favorite club’s cap during Opening Week. Fans can submit photos, videos, and engage with each other via #CapsOn and #OpeningDay which will unlock a special Twitter emoji throughout Opening Week.

Fans can join the conversation by Tweeting to their favorite MLB teams throughout the season. Each team will also have a unique hashtag-triggered emoji all week long.

Enjoy Tweeting — and watching — along with your favorite @MLB teams and players all season long!
