What it means to playtest...
By completing the sign-up survey, you may be eligible to participate in future studies, where you will typically come out to our offices and try out unreleased games, apps, or websites and help by giving us your thoughts on them.
We are always looking for players of ALL types so please be as honest as possible when answering these questions. As testing opportunities arise, we may reach out to you with follow-up questions via e-mail or a phone call.
As a token of our appreciation for participating in a study, you may receive swag, gift cards or games.
If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian MUST fill out the survey for themselves and at the end of the survey there will be a number of questions for them to fill out regarding the types of games you play. As testing opportunities come up, we may email them directly for you to come in and participate in a playtest.
No. This is an opportunity to take part in a research study and have your feedback impact our future products. If you’re looking for full time employment, check out jobs.activision.com.
When you arrive at Activision, you’ll need to sign in with security, get your parking validated and fill out some initial paperwork. We’ll then take you, and possibly a whole group of people, to a set of gaming stations. We’ll likely ask you to fill out an initial survey letting us know about your recent gaming habits, and then we’ll have you play a game. During that time, we may ask you to talk about your experience as it’s happening and/or fill out a survey afterwards to let us know what you think.
We’re a video game company! You’ll probably play a game and give some feedback. But we also expect you to follow directions and be respectful of others.
Please understand that we have the right to end the session at any time due to a problem on our end or otherwise.
Click on the yellow "Sign Up" button in the upper right portion of this page to begin taking our survey.
Send them to this site: playtest.activision.com.
We will reach out to people in our database based on each study’s needs. This is usually done via email and/or a phone call.
Please be patient though. Because we are looking for different kinds of players, it may take a while before hearing from us.
Please have the courtesy to provide as much advance notice as possible by emailing playtest@activision.com so we can find a replacement. Failure to provide adequate advance notice of a cancellation may reduce your chances of being selected again.
We’re fairly casual, so you can wear whatever you’re comfortable in that’s appropriate for being out in public. Bring a light jacket in case the A/C gets too cold.
1) You
2) Your cell phone (so we can contact you)
3) A government-issued photo I.D. (needed for verification)
*Note: Upon your arrival, cell phones will be held for you during your session.
Avoid bringing any recording devices. For safety reasons, you may be asked to go through a short security screening process to ensure you don’t have anything that’s banned, illegal, or inappropriate. If you are worried, please leave such items at home or in your car.
For any study, you will be asked to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement that requires you to avoid talking about anything you see during the study including the content you observed, the questions you were asked or anything you may have seen or heard inside of the building. Beyond that, you can tell people that you tested something for Activision, just not what it was, and no specific details until the content you saw has been officially released to the public.
If you live in the Greater Los Angeles area and are over the age of 18, click on the link above to sign up for our program.
If you do not live in the area but still wish to sign up, feel free as we may expand our service to other areas.
If you are under the age of 18 and are interested in playtesting, you MUST have a parent or legal guardian fill out the survey for themselves. At the end, there is a question about whether they have any children that may wish to participate in the program, and we can reach out to them for future opportunities.
We encourage you to reach out to your friends of all levels of game experience. We test a large variety of games and sites and are always looking for a wide variety of gaming backgrounds, including those who may not think of themselves as a gamer but would be interested to come in and help out.
