Usage

The {{WikiProject Animation}} project banner template should be added (not subst:ed) to the talk page of every article within the scope of the project. While the template does not require any additional parameters, it has a number of optional ones that add various extra features to the banner. This template automatically adds articles to Category:WikiProject Animation articles. The full syntax as it follows:

Parameters

General parameters:

  • class – valid values are listed in the custom class mask. See the project's quality scale for details. B-class checklist (available only when |class=stub |class=start |class=c or |class=b):
    • b1 – Referencing and citation (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
    • b2 – Coverage and accuracy (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
    • b3 – Structure (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
    • b4 – Grammar and style (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
    • b5 – Supporting materials (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
    • b6 – Accessibility (see the project's B-class criteria for details).
    • Set these to "yes" or "y" if the article meets the criterion; "no" or "n" if it does not. If the criterion has not been checked, omit the parameter or leave it with a blank value.
  • importance – valid values are listed in the custom importance mask. See the project's importance scale for details.
  • attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention.
  • needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
  • needs-image – set |needs-image=yes if the article requires an image or photograph, which should be added per guidance and per fair use.
  • unref – set |unref=yes if the article requires additional references.
  • cleanup – set |cleanup=yes if the article requires a general cleanup. Please detail what aspects of the article require clean-up on the article's talk page, otherwise the tag can be removed without redress to the problems.
  • fiction – set |fiction=yes if the article requires rewriting to maintain an out of universe approach per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction).
  • small – set |small=yes to display a small version of the template aligned along the right side of the page (as opposed to at the top). This parameter does not work as expected if the banner template is enclosed in {{WikiProject banner shell}} or any of its redirects.
  • listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Winsor McCay, use |listas=McCay, Winsor so that the talk page will show up in the M's and not the W's of the various assessment and administrative categories; similarly, for topics with titles beginning with an article such as "the" or "a" - e.g. for A Computer Animated Hand, use |listas=Computer Animated Hand, A so that the talk page will show up in the C's). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Ordering names in a category.
It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own |listas= set, since it not only affects categories used by the banner in which it is set, but it also affects the sortkey of all other banners and templates.
  • category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

Reviews and collaborations:

  • peer-review – set |peer-review=yes if the article is currently undergoing a peer review, or to request that the peer review process for this page should be begun.
  • old-peer-review – set |old-peer-review=yes if the article has had a peer review which is now archived.
    • This parameter populates Category:Old requests for animation peer review.
    • peer-review-title – If the peer review page has been started, but is not at Wikipedia:WikiProject Animation/Peer review/{{SUBJECTPAGENAME}}, set this parameter; i.e. if the peer review page is Wikipedia:WikiProject Animation/Peer review/Foobar, set |peer-review-title=Foobar.

Portals:

  • portalX-name – if the article has been selected for use on a portal, the name of that portal. The name should be given without any formatting or namespace prefixes; thus, Portal:Animation is given as "|portal1-name=Animation". Up to five different portals may be specified, via the parameters portal1-name through portal5-name.
  • portalX-link – the portal subpage location where the article may be found on the corresponding portal. This should be given as a pure unlinked subpage name; thus, Portal:Animation/Selected article/6 is given as "|portal1-link=Selected article/6".
