The unemployment rate in Napa County was 3.8 percent in September, down from a revised 4 percent in August and unchanged from the year-ago estimate of 3.8 percent, the state Employment Development Department reported on Friday.

This compares with an unadjusted unemployment rate of 5.3 percent for California and 4.8 percent for the nation during the same period.

Napa County has the fourth lowest unemployment rate for the state, said the Employment Development Department.

Napa County construction jobs rose 7 percent, hospitality jobs 7.6 percent and education jobs 5 percent.

Year over year, the number of people looking for jobs in Napa County rose 3.4 percent, the Employment Development Department reported.

There were 2,900 local job seekers in September 2015 compared to 3,000 this September.

At the same time, the total labor force in the county increased slightly, from 76,000 to 78,400.
