The Automotive Working Group published a First Public Working Draft of the Vehicle Signal Server Specification which defines a WebSocket based API that enables client applications running on the In-Vehicle-Infotainment system and on the local vehicle network to access vehicle signals and data attributes. The purpose of the specification is to promote a Server API that enables application development in a consistent manner across participating automotive manufacturers.

The CSS Working Group invites implementation of CSS Scroll Snap Module Level 1 which has been published a Candidate Recommendation. This module contains features to control panning and scrolling behavior with ‘snap positions’.

The Social Web Working Group has published a Working Draft of PubSub. This specification describes an open, simple, web-scale and decentralized Publish-Subscribe protocol; and HTTP-based profile which requirements for high-volume publishers and subscribers are optional.

The Device and Sensors Working Group has published a W3C Edited Recommendation of Vibration API (Second Edition). This specification defines an API that provides access to the vibration mechanism of the hosting device. Vibration is a form of tactile feedback. The Edited Recommendation incorporates a few editorial changes brought to the 2015 Vibration Recommendation, including a new privacy and security section.

The Social Web Working Group has published an updated Candidate Recommendation of Micropub. Micropub is an open API standard used to create posts on one’s own domain using third-party clients. Web apps and native apps (e.g., iPhone, Android) can use Micropub to post short notes, photos, events or other posts to your own site.

In accordance with the W3C Patent Policy, W3C has launched a Web Authentication Working Group Patent Advisory Group (PAG) in response to disclosures related to the Web Authentication API; see the PAG charter. W3C launches a PAG to resolve issues in the event a patent has been disclosed that may be essential, but is not available under the W3C Royalty-Free licensing requirements. The Web Payments Working Group has published Web Payments Overview 1.0, which provides an introduction to the Web Payments ecosystem in development at W3C. The document lists some goals for improving payments on the Web, and provides a high level view of how components in the ecosystem communicate. The Working Group welcomes feedback.
