There are two major "red flags" in the positive, 5 star reviews which suggest they are paid or company reviewers for IDA. First look at the dates they are posted. They are posted with the same two days in 2010. Then, look at the dates of the negative reviews, which I believe are actually legitimate. Secondly, the language of all the positive reviews is similar. They are well written, with no grammatical or spelling errors. Public reviews are simply never so homogeneous. Please consider giving to your local community animal groups instead.
IDA is a leader when it comes to helping the voiceless, whether it be for bobcats, wolves, bears, or fur trade or any animals without a voice. I am proud to be a part of the volunteer effort for IDA! The name goes together with the goal....they defend the voiceless from harm and in many different ways! The provide literature and media support and even write speeches to be given at CA Legislature! I am so thrilled that they help in rescue in times of crisis. They do outreach education and reach thousands of animal protectors!
Anyone considering donating to IDA should definitely read the article that ran Aug, 2012 in the "Animal People" publication. It is very enlightening about what is really going on the inside of IDA that very few really know. I am definitely going to donate elsewhere to a more ethical organization. http://www.animalpeoplenews.org/anp/2012/08/07/california-attorney-general-investigates-transitions-at-in-defense-of-animals/
There is no results about what they do!!! that's not a very way to show what you achieved! what did you achieved?
I have been a member of IDA for 25 years. I recieve information from many animal welfare organizations. In my opinion IDA does to the most effective work of all and without alienating the public. There accomplishments are amazing. One thing I look for in charities is how much the presidents and CEOs make. Dr. Katz receives a very modest amout, especially considering the cost of living in the Bay area. IDA is not the only animal charity that I support, but they are my favorite.
Review from CharityNavigator
I have been following and protesting with IDA since 1987. They are an amazing organization that continues to do great work for animals. It sounds corny but there is no animal too small to be helped by this outstanding group. Dr. Katz had a vision that is ever-expanding, thank you to him!
I lost a good friend in January who loved IDA. Because of her three friends and I have become aware of the good things IDA does. We promised her, Linda Vlahos, that we would sell all her things after she passed away and donate all proceeds to IDA. She cared deeply for all animals and knowing how highly she regarded this charity was all we needed to know.
I am an animal rights activist. I receive most of the information about cruelty to animals from IDA. They are definitely a top notch nonprofit organization. I can honestly say that they do a lot of good work for the rights of animals and to better animals' lives. They are definitely going to use the resouces they receive and put it to good use.
