Before discovering 10,000 degrees college was not an option for me. After enrolling in their program and applying for their scholarship I am now attending Sonoma State and am on m way to graduate in the near future. I would never have thought that this would be an option to me. I am so grateful for having found them and academic wise it has been one of the best decisions I've made

I can say without a doubt that 10,000 Degrees is one of the top non-profit organizations I've ever experienced. As a low income, first generation senior at San Rafael High School in the 2010-2011 school year, I received a multitude of support in my college applications, scholarship assistance, test preparation, and expectation pressures for my role in society. When I received my 4-year acceptance letter, my relationship with 10,000 Degrees never ceased.

Now as a a first year Teach for America teacher in Richmond, 10,000 Degrees has helped instill college bounded minds inside my sometimes challenging, but incredible 6th graders. 10,000 Degrees came to deliver fun, goal oriented, and inspiring workshops and coupled the education with a staff and first generation student led student panel and field trip to UC Berkeley! They did all this and I am already an alumni.

Starting off as a student served, transitioning to a college student working as a Student Advisor for rising juniors and volunteering as a Mentor for a sweet senior, to currently a young professional serving as a Board Member of one of their scholarship organizations, and maintaining my ties with the beautiful staff: 10,000 Degrees is an infinity organization in my heart.

As a first generation, immigrant student who grew up in a single parent household, I can easily say that 10,000 Degrees definitely made a difference in the path I chose for myself. While growing up, I was always told that I had to attend college, but I did not know what that implied. Luckily, one day I filled out a random application and this turned out to be the 10,000 Degrees application for a summer program. I was accepted into the program and over the summer I learned so much about college. I learned that there are perks to it as well as difficulties. Somehow, rather than feeling discouraged by the difficulties of it, I learned that I could prevail through these struggles. It was thanks to the alumni and the current students in the program that I realized this because there was a big sense of support and it was a safe space for those who doubted their ability to get to and through college. I am very thankful today to have become part of this organization that has taught me so much and that I continue to learn from. Today, I am a student who is ready to transfer to a four year university and my goal to mayor in the field I am passionate about isn't an impossible anymore. Today, I strive to do the kind of good that this organization had provided me with to my community.

This organization has helped me out in more ways than one. They have provided me with an opportunity to further expand my education and to be able to acquire the resources needed to be successful in college. This has allowed me to focus more on school and less on finding means to pay for it. As a result, I have taken more from my experiences in college and am putting in all of my effort towards finding more opportunities. The staff at 10,000 Degrees are extremely helpful and show interest in helping young adults reach their maximum potential. They welcome you and make you feel like family which is very comforting. This program is dedicated to students and is great at giving students the motivation and inspiration to go the extra mile in life. I highly recommend students to look into 10,000 Degrees and talk with the wonderful staff about improving their futures and opening up the doors to success.
