A Napa resident was pronounced dead on Saturday morning after succumbing to injuries sustained after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection at Monarch Street and Byway East early Friday, according to Napa Police.

The victim, Michael Dean Green, 54, was on foot when he was hit at 2:17 a.m. Friday. He was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center and was in critical condition. Green died from his injuries at 10:02 a.m. on Saturday.

The motorist left the scene, but some identifying car parts were located on the scene by investigators. Sgt. Amy Hunter said that investigators know the involved vehicle is a 2014 silver Volkswagen Beetle with a California license plate of 7EFY913. The vehicle will have driver’s side damage, she said.

Police have identified the owner of the vehicle, and the CHP tweeted at 6:20 Saturday evening that the car was found on I-80 in Solano County. The owner was driving the car.
