Security Related Information to Mariners

ADMIRALTY Maritime Security Planning Charts (Q Series) should be maintained so that they are fully up-to-date with the latest security-critical navigational information. The Security Related Information to Mariners (SRIM) service provides all of the data you need to maintain the Q Series charts as well as additional security related information which will aid passage planning.

Promulgation of Corrections to Q Series Planning Charts

These charts will be updated/corrected using the established ADMIRALTY Notices to Mariners process.

Promulgation of Security Related Information to Mariners (SRIM)

New threats, embargo, exclusion zones and specific advice will be promulgated using the Security Related Information to Mariners (SRIM) and can be viewed by clicking on the relevant Q Chart Tab.

The SRIM for each chart will sequentially numbered and identified by a unique title as follows: Q Chart / Year / Sequence Number (e.g. Q6111 / 16 / 001) meaning the first SRIM of 2016 for chart Q6111.

Data assurance

The data and information within the Security Related Information to Mariners (SRIM) is compiled and validated by government authorities and provides advice to the master mariner, in support of the passage planning process in accordance with SOLAS Ch V Reg 34 (Safe navigation and avoidance of dangerous situations.) Where possible any safety critical information will be promulgated by the World Wide Navigational Warning System (WWNWS).

5615(P) Gulf of Aden — Red Sea - Arabian Sea - Gulf of Oman Maritime limits.

Summary

On 1st December 2015, the limits of the High Risk Area (HRA) within the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operation (UKMTO) Voluntary Reporting Area (VRA), shown on Maritime Security Chart Q6099, will be amended.
The revised limits are:
In the Red Sea: Latitude 15° N
In the Gulf of Oman: Latitude 22° N
Eastern limit: Longitude 65° E
Southern limit: Latitude 5° S
The UKMTO VRA limits are unchanged but the HRA has been substantially reduced in size.
Ships entering the VRA are strongly encouraged to liaise with the UKMTO to ensure that military assets are expecting the ship, also prior to entering the HRA, Register Vessel Movement with Maritime Security Centre for the Horn of Africa (MSC-HOA).
It is strongly recommended that effective Best Management Practices (BMP) measures are implemented if the risk assessment indicates their necessity.

Gulf of Guinea (MTISC-GoG) has now ceased to operate

Summary

The Maritime Trade Information Sharing Centre – Gulf of Guinea (MTISC-GoG) has now ceased to operate. It has been replaced by the Maritime Domain Awareness for Trade – Gulf of Guinea (MDAT-GoG). All vessels are encouraged to report to the MDAT-GoG using the existing reporting formats which will be revised in the new edition of the Maritime Security Chart Q6114 on 30 Jun 2016.

In emergency, vessels should telephone the following number for the MDAT-GoG: +33 (0) 2 98 22 88 88.

MDAT-GoG is a virtual reporting mechanism supporting the interregional architecture defined by the Yaoundé code of conduct. The information supplied by vessels will be treated as commercially confidential. The primary output from the MDAT-GoG is to contribute by maintaining coherent maritime situational awareness in the Central and Western African maritime space, with the ability to inform and support industry, contributing to the safety and security of the mariner in the regional maritime domain.
