Do you dream of sailing a tall ship, racing across the Atlantic, dinghy sailing in the sun or entertaining the family on water sports and beach holiday?
Boating holidays are great fun allowing you to explore new places and different boats. Whether you choose beach water sports, yacht sailing in a flotilla, canal and river cruising, yacht racing at Cowes week or sailing through icebergs there’s something for everyone.
Beach and water sports activity holidays offer the best of both worlds with hotel accommodation, boats and windsurfers all rigged waiting and a beach to relax on. Whilst they are great fun for all sailors, they are also an excellent way to get the kids on the water with people of a similar same age whilst under the watchful eye of an instructor, allowing you to have fun with them or time to unwind by the pool.
If you are new to yacht sailing, try a skippered flotilla holiday and sail in company around the Mediterranean Islands. There are regular briefings in the morning, over a coffee in a waterside taverna, followed by a helping hand away from the quay to your next destination.
If that’s all too tame why not increase your experience by sailing across the English Channel, around Britain, even across the Atlantic or down to Antarctica.
British Marine Leisure Boating is the trade association that represents the marine Training, Charter and Holiday industry. Have a look at the British Marine Leisure Boating website to find out what they have to offer.
If you have ever fancied sailing on a large ship and learning the ropes, the Association of Sail Training Associations (ASTO) or Sail Training International (STI) has many opportunities to get you involved. Their members operate all around the UK and overseas and take both young and old sailing throughout the year culminating in the annual Tall Ships Race.
Explore over 4,000 miles of canals, rivers and lakes on the Canal & River Trust. Training usually takes a matter of hours, instead of days, and opens up inland waterways holidays to everyone.
