Amy Seabright and Anna Carpenter will be hoping to continue their Princess Sofia medal-winning momentum as they prepare to undertake the 470 European Championships at the same Palma venue this week (7-12 April).
Although Rio-bound Hannah Mills-Saskia Clark and men’s Podium squad pairing Luke Patience-Chris Grube will be sitting out the regatta, the British Sailing Team will be represented by four crews in the women’s fleet and one men’s team across the six days of competition in Palma Bay.
Podium Potential squad pairing Seabright and Carpenter head into the event off the back of their bronze medal success at the Princess Sofia Trophy this weekend, and will hope to continue their momentum against a strong international fleet. For a number of nations, the European Championships forms part of their national selections for Rio 2016.
“We feel quite good about our speed so we’ll make sure we take that into the Europeans, keep focusing on the basics and not get too carried away and know that we can be up there,” said Carpenter following their Palma podium success last weekend.
Also competing for the British Sailing Team in the women’s fleet will be Sophie Weguelin-Flora Stewart, Jess Lavery-Eilidh McIntyre and Sarah Norbury-Katie Dabson., while Podium Potential squad duo Martin Wrigley-James Taylor will be continuing their education in the men’s fleet at their first 470 Europeans.
Racing gets underway on Thursday 7 April, with the final medal races scheduled for Tuesday 12 April.
