Life as Sharon knew it came to an end on October 11, 2001 when she received a phone call  in the middle of the night. The New York City Police told her that her seventeen year old daughter Kristin, had “fallen” from the roof of her college dormitory. That moment created a before and after, from which there was no return.

Artful Grief is a suicide survivors journey through grief. Sharon’s suffering is raw, each moment played out in letters to Kristin with “terrifyingly beautiful” collages.  It is a story about transformation, love and hope in which darkness gives way to light.

Words and image weave together in a roadmap of process. It is a profoundly personal memoir and guidebook for those whose life is altered by trauma and for survivors navigating a healing journey.
