Instantly reach the people in your life—for free. Messenger is just like texting, but you don't have to pay for every message (it works with your data plan).
Not just for Facebook friends: Message people in your phone book and just enter a phone number to add a new contact.
Group chats: Create groups for the people you message most. Name them, set group photos and keep them all in one place.
Photos and videos: Shoot videos and snap selfies or other photos right from the app and send them with one tap.
Chat heads: Keep the conversation going while you use other apps.
Free calls: Talk as long as you want, even with people in other countries. (Calls are free over Wi-Fi. Otherwise, standard data charges apply.)
Even more ways to message:
Bring your conversations to life with stickers.
Preview your gallery photos and videos without leaving the conversation--then choose the perfect ones to send.
Record voice messages when you have more to say.
Extra features:
Know when people have seen your messages.
Forward messages or photos to people who weren't in the conversation.
Search for people and groups to quickly get back to them.
Turn on location to let people know when you're nearby.
See who's available on Messenger and who's active on Facebook.
Create shortcuts to get to any conversation right from your home screen.
Turn off notifications when you're working, sleeping or just need a break.
Stay logged in so you never miss a message.

My opinion... Facebook has the potential to be the World's very 1st True one stop shop for communication.

A necessary evil. Facebook already takes up so much memory so this thing is a huge nuisance but Facebook friends use it so I must use it also. I can't imagine why this isn't built into Facebook or why my phone sms can't be used. The app is pretty good, btw.

UPDATES GALORE Jeez. These constant updates are getting annoying, If only there's a way for devs to filter out the device models that doesn't have problems on the app and only those that have would update that'll be nice.
Starting to really hate it. From a simple messenger app, it turned into a personal "assistant", TOO MUCH things everywhere, tons and tons of layers of options of an option of another option and so on... Make it simpler! You want to put also a feature that the user can call a taxi from messenger someday in the years 2016-2017... Messenger = Facebook NOT a new personal assistant! Also I couldn't forget to write about the tons of updates..! So annoying! You have like a team of 100 people for an app, that's why it's so terrible! Meh
Can't copy & paste in chat heads? 😩 Tried to copy & paste in chat head many times. thought it was a glitch on my last quirky phone, but after 2 other devices did the same, I researched it & low & behold, Its a bug, a rather common & highly reported bug. One can copy & paste in messenger app, but not in a chat head. Please address this in the next update. I can't count how many responses have been lost forever due to this bug. I'm going to have stop using chat heads until this is fixed, which will likely end up in me not using the app.
Needs work Annoying that you can't permanently turn off notifications in the app. Also always crashes when you try to switch back to it using recent apps. It's funny that you put out an update that doesn't actually fix anything. It just pushes down the reviews for a "previous version." My issues are still present multiple versions since I first wrote this. Running on a Nexus 6P with the latest version of Android.
Use this or I can't get F.B. messages? ?? Easy app yes but WAY TO MANY PERMISSIONS THAT I'M NOT COMFORTABLE ACCEPTING, AND IF I DON'T THEN I CAN'T RECEIVE "MY" MESSAGES!!!! I LIVE IN THE LAND OF FREEDOM EXCEPT WHEN IT COMES TO APPS WE HAVE NO FREEDOM TO SAY WHAT I DON'T WANT TO EXCEPT!!! IT'S ACCEPT GIVING UP MY PRIVACY TO MY LOCATION ..OR GIVING UP THE RIGHT TO SAY "NO" AND IF NOT I CAN CAN NOT USE APP WHICH THEN MEANS I CAN NOT RECEIVE MESSAGES. .READY TO GET RID OF FACEBOOK ALL TOGETHER AND GO BACK TO TEXTING!!!!
Wtf Downloading Facebook and Messenger is simply for necessity. But everytime an update is released, it is not showing as installed. Was this supposed to go smoothly and for the update to fix any bugs, right? My phone has ample memory and proper settings but it still needs to be uninstalled and re-installed. Such a waste of time.
I don't understand why this app is needed when we can check and send messages from Facebook app. Tha video and calling lose signal too much which is why I video chat and make calls through hangout app that comes pre install on all phones. This app also have updates every three days don't believe me keep track with me:03/8/2016,3/16/2016,03/21/2016/03/22/2016,03/23/2016,03/29/2016.
