Strategic Review April 2016
RYA Scotland launches a comprehensive set of dates to engage the boating community across Scotland upon strategic objectives.
RYA Scotland is about to
embark on a comprehensive review of our strategic objectives.
We want to engage the boating
community in a wide ranging conversation that will reflect on our achievements
over the last few years and establish those areas we need to address for the
future.
We want to understand what
our members and key stakeholders see as being the priorities for our
organisation over the next four years so together we can formulate a clear
strategy to guide all our activities.
To do this we will be
undertaking a Scotland wide series of members’ evenings to engage directly with
individuals, Clubs and Training Centres throughout the month of April. The CEO and a number of key volunteers will
travel to every corner of Scotland and want to hear from as many people as
possible.
If you are a member of the
RYA, a member of an affiliated Club, a Recognised Training Centre or an active
RYA instructor, coach or race official you are invited to attend one of the
evening sessions nearest to you. These
sessions are structured to enable everyone present to take part in small group
discussions which promise to be informative and engaging and will help shape
the future for RYA Scotland.
James Allan, CEO at RYA
Scotland, said, “this is one of those rare opportunities to get out an about
and hear what people have to say directly.
I’m really looking forward to meeting so many of our boating community
and getting engaged in a good discussion.
It is incredibly important that we hear all about what people feel we do
well and could do better, things we should be doing and perhaps not doing to
help make boating even better across Scotland.”
To back up these sessions and
ensure everyone has the opportunity to contribute, we will also open up an
online questionnaire which will be live through April and be available to the
entire boating community. In addition,
our staff will be sitting down with our partners and key stakeholders to have
direct conversations about their thoughts on our future direction.
Tony Gorzkowski, Chairman of
RYA Scotland stressed the importance for everyone to get involved saying, “RYA
Scotland is the governing body for boating in Scotland . We need to have our members
and partners in Scotland informing this review process so that the organisation
continues to do the very best for our members and the wider boating community
in Scotland. The evening sessions across
the country will be a great opportunity for people to meet the key volunteers
from our committees and will be quite sociable too. The online questionnaire will be quick and
easy and will make sure everyone can have an input and of course we will be
happy for people to drop us a note directly if they prefer.”
RYA Scotland has moved
forward significantly over the last four years and seen a sustained growth in
membership. We want our organisation to
continue to flourish and deliver on our purpose to protect and promote safe,
successful and rewarding boating in Scotland. This is your opportunity to help us do so.
