RYA Competent Crew

An introduction for beginners who want to become active and useful crew members. The course introduces the fundamentals of sailing a moderate-size cruising yacht.

By the end of the course you will have the confidence and ability to keep a lookout, handle sails, steer, row a dinghy and assist in all other day-to-day activities. During the course you will cover approximately 100 miles, including four night hours on watch.

As well as the consecutive 5 day RYA Competent Crew course, we also offer the option of taking this course over three weekends by attending three RYA Starting Yachting courses. Each weekend includes one night on-board and food.

If you decide to take the RYA Competent Crew course over three weekends, we recommend that you complete all three training weekends within a period of six months.
