Powerboat Courses

RYA powerboat courses

South Cerney Sailing Club is an RYA Recognised Training Centre for Powerboat instruction and provides adult courses for RYA Level 1 and 2, and Powerboat Safety courses as described below.

The dates for Powerboat courses are for Level 1/2. We also run Powerboat Safety courses either alongside or instead of the Level 1/2 course on the same dates. The Safety courses are arranged depending upon the demand, so if you would like to attend a Safety course, please email training@southcerneysailingclub.org.uk with details of which dates you would be available for.

  National Powerboat L1/2 National Powerboat Safety
Minimum pre-course experience : None. Knowledge & Experience to Level 1/2 standard
Course Content : Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by a competent powerboat driver. Provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat, or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes and for racing or training activities
Ability After Course : Able to handle a power boat competently in inland waters. Able to handle a powerboat in the role of safety, escort or coach boat in inland waters
Duration : Friday evening 7pm-9pm
Saturday 9am - 5pm
Sunday 9am - 1pm
Friday evening 7pm-9pm
Saturday 9am - 5pm
Sunday 9am - 1pm

Course fees 2015: members £95 (special reduction this year for Safety Boat course for members - only £80) ; non-members £195. Includes RYA Logbook, certificate, all course materials and the loan of a buoyancy aid if needed.
