Sailability
was set up by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) to ensure that
adults and children with any form of disability have the opportunity
to get afloat.
Today RYA Sailability is the leading national charity for disabled sailing in the UK with
over 15,000 sailors benefiting from its activities. RYA Sailability
is considered to be the most active sailing organisation for people
with disabilities in the world, there being over 200 clubs in the
UK alone.
Since
Burghfield Sailing Club Sailability Group was founded,
we have been very successful with some 20 to 30 people getting afloat
each week. These include sailors with visual and hearing impairments,
physical disabilities and learning difficulties.
