Pavlo Petrenko: "The Government has supported the establishment of legal aid bureau offices of the Ministry of Justice throughout Ukraine"

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decree, thereby launching the process of an initiative to set up across the country 428 legal aid bureau offices of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine which was presented by the Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko. It became known about on 11 January 2016 on the results of the Government meeting.
According to the website of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the decree provides for the elimination of 586 territorial bodies of the Ministry of Justice at the district and city level and in the regional centers and establishment in district and regional centers of 428 legal aid bureau offices to provide Ukrainian citizens with legal protection and to ensure access to e-services opened by the Ministry of Justice.

The resident of Odessa, Alexander* was accused of premeditated murder for self-defense. Due to the professional work of the lawyer of the legal aid system Iryna Kazaryan the actions by the accused were shifted from a very serious crime to a minor offense.
On September 19, 2015 at night four drunken men broke into Alexander’s apartment and they started fighting. When trying to defend himself and his son Alexander had to resist the attackers. During the fight he grabbed a knife and stabbed one of the "guests" into the abdominal cavity. The blow caused the attacker’s death.
Lawyer from Ternopol region proved evidence to be false and saved client from being jailed for 12 years

The lawyer from Ternopol region Alexander Kogut managed to prove the facts of police arbitrariness, thus having achieved the acquittal for his client who was threatened to be sentenced to 12 years in state prison upon assault charge.
Regional center for FSLA in Ternopol region appointed the lawyer Alexander Kogut to defend the man accused of especially serious crime (p. 3 Art. 187 of CC of Ukraine) - assault.
Over 400 legal aid bureaus will be created in Ukraine

Over 400 legal aid bureaus will start serving citizens since July 1, 2016. Everyone will be able to use electronic services of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine and to receive free primary legal aid (legal information and consultations) there.
Socially unprotected citizens will have access to free secondary legal aid here including filing procedural documents and representations to court.

The lawyer Olena Storozhuk achieved a not-guilty verdict for her client Nazar*. The guy was accused of illegal purchase, storage and transfer of methadone.
According to charge, Nazar earlier judged did not learn the lesson and was not ready to be on the right way, therefore he again committed a deliberate crime. The representative of pre-trial investigation carried out the operation purchase of narcotic substance three times. Then the police detained Nazar and searched his apartments.
