Turku, Finland

Turku is the oldest city in Finland and one of the oldest in all of the Nordic region. When the Archbishop of Finland moved to the city in 1229 it became the crux of religion for the country, which in turn earned the city wealth, importance and the business that saw it grow over the last few centuries. Turku even acted as the capital of Finland up until 1812.

The river is considered the heart and soul of the city, it's birthplace and a quintessential element of life in the city - the whole place really revolves around the water running through it. The banks of the river are home to restaurants, cafes, museums and all the sights you'd want to see while in the city. Turku is proud of it's wide range of museums which hold a wealth of national treasures significant to the heritage of Finland.
