Duncan Truswell, RYA Sport Development Manager, said: "It is great news that Sport England have mobilised so quickly to help sailing providers seek financial aid to ensure their facilities are up and running as quickly as possible.
"We would also like to thank our affiliated clubs and classes insurance providers, Arthur J. Gallagher, whose prompt response and support getting the situation resolved quickly is really appreciated. They are passionate about helping is to get our facilities to get back on their feet and get people back afloat as soon as practically possible.
"As clubs, centres and other organisations in the North West begin recovery work, it is important that all of our clubs and centres take the opportunity to check their policies and ensure the adequacy of their insurance coverage. It is a timely reminder for us all to make sure all facilities and equipment is included within relevant policies and that appropriate levels of cover are in place."
