Gus Lewis, RYA legal expert, and Stuart Carruthers, RYA's cruising manager, are again travelling north to give one of their by now famous briefings on current legal and cruising issues.

Blundellsands Sailing Club will be hosting the evening on 28 October 2015 at 20.00 hours. More information from Cedric Loughran (cedric-loughran2750@yahoo.co.uk).

This will be preceded at 19.15 by a short meeting to consider the format for a possible RYA North West Cruising Forum - as discussed at the RYA NW Cruising Conference in March.

The topics to be discussed will include an outline agenda for Cruising Forums, possibly covering legal developments, regional cruising issues, other national matters that may impact locally, and sharing information on regional events.

It is also suggested the meeting would look at the frequency of Forums, at the moment thinking is for twice a year, probably Spring and Autumn/Winter for two hours on a weekday evening.

There will also be discussion on the location of Forums as it is unlikely one venue could prove accessible to the whole region, so the proposal would probably need two centres.

If the response on the night is encouraging, a similar event could be held in the north of the region later in the year.

More information on the Cruising Forum Setup Meeting from Geoff Meggitt (geoff.meggitt@gmail.com) or Tony Halliwell (halliwell@waitrose.com). Any comments or suggestions to them will be welcome.

The clubhouse bar will be open during the evening
