ISAF Sailing World Championships 2007
Cascais, Portugal

The entry deadline for nations to apply to priority places at the 2007 ISAF Sailing World Championships passes today, Wednesday 31 January. Over 60 nations have already applied for entry for the ISAF Worlds in Cascais, Portugal, which will be the pinnacle event for the Olympic Classes in 2007 with 75% of all the national places for the 2008 Olympic Games to be decided.

All ISAF Member National Authorities (MNA) have received their password and userIDs with which they can access the online entry system. Each MNA can apply for one Priority Place in each of the eleven Olympic events in Cascais.

The time scale for entry is as follows:

31 January 2007 Deadline for MNAs to apply for the Priority Place
MNAs have to indicate just the event (class). Names of sailors are not required at this stage.
15 February 2007 ISAF will publish a list with all Priority Places and the number of Additional Places available. These Additional Places will be offered to the relevant MNAs.
15 March 2007 Deadline for MNAs to respond to these Additional Places.
If a place is not taken by an MNA, this place will be at the discretion of the Qualification Commission as a Commission Place.
1 May 2007 Entry deadline - entries after this date will be charged by a late entry fee penalty of 50%

About The 2007 ISAF Worlds

The 2007 ISAF Sailing World Championships will take place from 28 June-13 July in Cascais, Portugal. 'The Wind Is Calling' is the official motto for the 2007 Worlds. The Championships are the principal qualification regatta for the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition, with 75% of all national places to be decided.
