The Argentineans Gustavo WARBURG, Hernan CELEDONI and Máximo SMITH, from San Isidro Club, won their second title in the Soling World's that ended this Saturday at Veleiros do Sul.
Second place went to Hungarian sailors; George WOSSALA, Leslie KOVA'CSI and Pepe NEMETH from Balaton Yacht Club and in third were the local Brazilian crew from Veleiros do Sul - George NEHM, Marcos Pinto RIBEIRO and Lúcio Pinto RIBEIRO.
Even with no race victory the Argentineans won because of their good average in the Championship.
Celebrations were delayed a little as the crew waited for the decision on a protest that could make or break their title hopes. Once the decision was made, and their win confirmed, the parties began.
The Argentinean trio, Gustavo 39y, Hernan 35y and Máximo 29y, have been sailing together for 4 years. In 2001 they won in Buenos Aires and when they arrived in Porto Alegre for this championship they thought they haven't have enough training but they've shown everybody their good speed and technique.
The Brazilians, George, Marcos and Lúcio sailed very well in the last race. They led from the beginning and were followed by the eventual championship winners in the final race.
It was a special day to sailing with a 30 km/m south Wind. The Soling Worlds had 26 boats from Brazil, Argentina, United States, Hungary, Norway and Uruguay. The 2005 Soling Class World Championship will be in Italy.
