2004/2005 Global Challenge
Cape Town, South Africa

All twelve boats have now finished leg four of the Global Challenge after the arrival of twelfth place team VAIO at 0531 hours GMT this morning.

VAIO has completed their long approach to Cape Town, finally crossing the finish line at 0731 local time. Strong winds blew VAIO towards Cape Town quickly for their last stretch, with the boat reporting speeds of 10-12 knots for the last 10 to 15 hours. The final boat in the fleet, VAIO finished three days, seven hours, seven minutes and 13 seconds after leg winners Spirit of Sark, taking a total of 40 days, 16 hours, 31 minutes and 25 seconds to sail the 6,200 miles from Sydney to Cape Town.

VAIO began deep cleaning the yacht whilst still at sea yesterday so hopefully they can head straight for the little luxuries they have been longing for their epic 40 day voyage. High on the list are showers and sleep and a little more unusually, 'crunchy food'.

Yesterday evening Team Save the Children crossed the finish line taking eleventh place.
