IOC News
Berlin, Germany

On the first day of meetings, the IOC Executive Board met with the associations of International Federations whose members are currently in Berlin to attend the international sports convention, SportAccord.
ISAF's President, Göran PETERSSON (SWE) and Secretary General, Arve SUNDHEIM (NOR) are both in Berlin at the SportAccord Convention along with former ISAF President and member of the IOC's Evaluation Commission for the Games of the XXX Olympiad - 2012, Paul HENDERSON (CAN).

The IOC Executive Board meetings began on Friday and are due to finish tomorrow, the same day as the SportAccord Convention draws to a close.

During the IOC Executive Board meeting with the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF), the IOC President stressed the importance of the collaboration with federations and praised the quality of current relationships.

The success of the Athens Games last summer was the demonstration of well coordinated efforts and the lessons learnt from that experience will now be used to improve documents such as the Host City Contract and other guides supporting the Organizing Committees in their preparations. It also allowed the IOC to substantially increase the financial redistribution allocated to the federations.

ASOIF Chairman, Denis OSWALD thanked the IOC for the fair and transparent process put in place to review the sports programme. Federations were given the opportunity to discuss the evaluation criteria, provide further information and comment on the draft Programme Commission report. It was agreed that details on the procedure that will be used during the 117th IOC Session in Singapore, where the fate of the 2012 Olympic Games will be decided, will be communicated to the federations as quickly as possible after the Executive Board has discussed the matter.
