Competitors Gear Up For Racing On Lake Ontario

The Ken Shaw Lexus 2005 North American Soling Championships, hosted by the Canadian International Soling Association and the Etobicoke Yacht Club (EYC) on Lake Ontario, Canada from 15-18 September, continues to draw more competitors' interest. Fantastic competition and a fascinating seminar promise to make this an outstanding event.

Ken Shaw Lexus, one of Canada's largest auto dealerships, has a history of supporting the Soling fleet with their past sponsorship of the 1999 North American Soling Championships at the EYC.

Several notable skippers and crew will be competing this year, including current North American, World Masters and former World Champion Bill ABBOTT (CAN), two-time Olympic medallist Hans FOGH (CAN), and former World Champion, legend and author Dr. Stuart WALKER (USA).

These veterans will no doubt be wonderful sources of knowledge for the rest of the fleet.

Dr. WALKER, always giving back to the sport, will be hosting a performance seminar for all competitors, with ABBOTT and FOGH also on the panel. This promises to be a highlight of the event.

Lithuania's Juozas Bernotas came out on top in the Men's RS:X whilst Russia's Stefania Elfutina was triumphant in the Women's RS:X. Both sailors claim the first Abu Dhabi ISAF Sailing World Cup Final spots whilst Jock Calvert (AUS) and Joanna Sterling (AUS) picked up the Oceanic spots for the Emirati finale.

A tight group of five young Papua New Guinean (PNG) Laser sailors are stepping up their 2015 Pacific Games competition program using this week's ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne. PNG is one of 33 countries represented at the important Oceanic event, the largest Olympic sailing regatta in the southern hemisphere.
