2.4 Metre World Championship
Porto San Giorgio, Italy

Sweden's Peter Andersson took gold at the 2.4mR World Championship in Porto San Giorgio, Italy by one point over compatriot Stellan Berlin.
The pair had jockeyed for top spot throughout the week and with three races to go Andersson had a three point lead. But Berlin piled on the pressure winning Race 8 on the penultimate day to reduce to the gap to two points with two races to go.

On the final day Berlin came through to record his third race win of the regatta in Race 9 and second successive bullet. But as the second discard kicked into play Andersson's lead extended to four points.

Berlin made it three bullets in a row in Race 10 but Andersson did what he needed to do to take gold by coming in fourth. Andersson failed to win a race throughout the regatta but his consistent top four performances ensured he took the crown.

Great Britain's Megan Pascoe rounded off the podium.
