If Udo Hessels, Marcel van de Veen and Mischa Rossen (NED) are to be caught then today is the day for the chasing pack to look to reduce the gap. The Dutch trio have stayed out of trouble and remained consistent with a pair of bullets, a pair of seconds and a pair of third. Their only blemish on a steady score card is a discarded eighth from the first race.

The first Sonar race of the day gets going at 10:00 local time on Portland Harbour. At first a north easterly breeze blowing 16 knots with gusts up to 23 knots will challenge the sailors. However as the day progresses a 12 knot breeze gusting 17 knots with the sun shining will make for a wonderful day of racing.

Dan Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch (AUS) lead the SKUD18 fleet on 11 points, four clear of Jen French and Jp Creignou (USA) and Alex Rickham and Niki Birrell (GBR). The three teams have runaway with things at the top and with just three races remaining a four point lead could prove key for the Australians. Two of those races will be today starting at 11:00 and with the Australians discarding a third, they could wrap it up today.

Helena Lucas (GBR) takes an 11 point lead into the penultimate day and has enjoyed the light winds seen so far. However today is a different story and as a light wind specialist she may struggle in some of the bigger stuff. Nonetheless she could wrap up the gold medal today with two more excellent races providing Heiko Kroger (GER) has a weak day on the water.
