Marsala, Sicily, Italy

The crews vying to become champion at the ISAF Grade C1 Seiko 49er Europeans have gathered in Marsala, on the western coast of Sicily.
The series of races, which culminates in the crowning of a champion, runs from 9-16 September 2007.

Circolo Velico Marsala is playing host to the Championships involving a total of 66 crews. Not only are they providing the 49er sailors with a beautiful sailing venue with views across the Mediterranean; they are also providing superb host facilities and location.

The organization by Circola Velico Marsala has been second to none, and the week ahead promises to be of top quality, on and off the water. Pasquale TERI and Roberto FORTE and their team from Circolo Velico Marsala are hosting a magnificent venue and must be congratulated on such.

Amongst the star names on the entry list are reigning Olympic Champions Iker MARTINEZ and Xabier FERNANDEZ, World Championship silver medallists Nico DELLE - KARTH and Nikolaus RESCH (AUT) and world #1 crew Jan-Peter PECKOLT and Hannes PECKHOLT (GER).

Seiko Watch Corporation, have been global partners of the International 49er Class Association since January 2007. This partnership is designed to grow and develop the class throughout the world using global coaching and participation initiatives.

Through the partnership, Seiko has provided the International 49er Class with financial assistance, media services and equipment support. This backing ensures that events, such as Marsala, are executed to the highest standards and are a great success.

Following the practice races today, eyes fall to the start lists to predict who will fair the best in the Mediterranean conditions. The beautiful location and outstanding host is a combination which cannot fail to provide a great week of sailing.
