In just three short months, over the week of the 18th-25th August 2001, Cowes on the Isle of Wight will again be the centre of the world sailing scene.

What started out as a great idea has turned into one of the biggest festivals of sail ever, with many important historic yachts from all eras of the America's Cup competition attending. However this will not just be a reunion of the largest collection of America's Cup boats, but also an opportunity for some close competition - especially in the 12-metre and modern America's Cup classes.

But it is not just boats that will be present. The America's Cup community and many thousands of spectators from all over the world, all with an interest in the sport and old boats, will pass through Cowes.

As Patron of the America's Cup Jubilee, HRH The Duke of Edinburgh will open the week's celebrations at the Official Opening Ceremony to be held on Saturday 18th August on The Parade, Cowes.

HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, in her capacity as head of the Royal Yachting Association, the British National Sailing Federation, will also be present in Cowes on the last day of racing of the America's Cup Jubilee on Saturday 25th August. A keen cruising sailor, the Princess Royal will be awarding the splendid selection of trophies on offer to the last day's winners and the overall Jubilee Week winners.

Prince Henrik of Denmark, consort to the Queen of Denmark, will also be racing at the Regatta and will live aboard the Danish Royal Yacht, Danebrog.
