ISAF National Judge Program
Pattaya, Thailand

The Royal Varuna Yacht Club successfully hosted an ISAF National Judge Program Workshop in Pattaya, Thailand
Twenty five representatives of race management, coaches and skippers representing the cream of Thailand's fraternity attended the course which was held in English and Thai.

Rut Subniran (THA) and Bryan Willis (GBR) were the course instructors and taught the participants a step by step way of thinking which is important when making decisions on the outcome of a protest.

Of the course Santi Kanchanabandhu said, "Having the course running in both Thai and English helps cross learning amongst participants of which the majority were Thai.

"The session was interesting and highly interactive with useful knowledge for an immediate application in the protest committee."

Marijke Whitcraft added, "I have never before experienced so much interest and equality between all who attended, ranging from beginner coaches to University professors from all parts of the world. The interactive way of teaching and the materials supplied were so interesting, that all participants kept full attention during the course and worked together in teams, no matter their background. After finishing the course we all felt like we knew a lot more and an interest to further continue in this field was created.

"The course was a true success and I believe this will take our nation's sailing reputation to a higher level. I believe it is of great importance that the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand recognizes the importance of establishing a National Jury of Thailand.
