Out in front is Spirit of Sark skippered by Duggie GILLESPIE being chased by Matt RIDDELL'S team aboard Samsung just two miles behind. In third is David MELVILLE'S BP Explorer followed six miles behind by BG SPIRIT. The only female skipper is threatening her male counterparts lying in sixth place in the middle of the fleet with Italian skipper Amedeo and VAIO in seventh and Eero LEHTINEN, Team SAIC in eighth. Clive COSBY'S Team Stelmar is in ninth place followed by Team Save the Children. Me to You and Pindar currently lie in eleventh and twelfth places respectively, although there is still only 16 miles between the front and last yachts.

The crews have been tested to their absolute max with the watch systems kicking into place meaning less hands on deck for the numerous sail changes due to the strong winds which have calmed today.

Eero LEHTINEN'S daily log explained today: "Seasickness has taken a huge toll on the crew and the boat is in quite a state. Everyone's exhausted, some a bit bruised, but the show must go on. Quite a reality check to be honest.

"Sailplan has gone as far down as 3 reefs, #3 yankee and storm staysail. Wind was gusting 45 knots at its best during the night, heavy rain squalls and choppy seas. Crew is fighting hard to keep going, supporting each other and trying to maximise sleep."
