The Swiss team of Alinghi, helmed by Jochen SCHUEMANN, won the race with One World driven by the Australian James SPITHILL. The race was basically won when the Swiss got the advantage and passed in front of the Americans holding their advantage and finishing first by ten seconds.

In the second race Mascalzone Latino, with Vasco VASCOTTO at the helm, were beaten by the Victory Challenge from Sweden, led by Magnus HOLMBERG. An error in the start for the Italian team in the pre-start meant the Swedes closed in on them, forcing the Latin Rascals into a double tack, and notably slowing them down. Despite a great effort from Vascotto, he could not close in on Holmberg following that initial error.

The other Italian sailor did much better, Tommaso CHIEFFI leader of the American team Oracle Racing, was able to beat GBR Challenge with Andy BEADSWORTH at the helm. An impeccable start for Chieffi who crossed the finish line 22 seconds before the British Team.

One World won the final race of the day against Victory Challenge. With an advantage of 7 seconds, James SPITHILL had the better of the Swede Magnus Holmberg of Victory Challenge. It was the most fought out and spectacular race of the day as the weather conditions improved greatly in the late afternoon. In the last leg the Swedes were able to gain the advantage but the Americans of One World were able to close the lead and only a few metres in front of the finish line they took the advantage thus winning the race.

Today, the program sees a conclusion to the first Round Robin, in which the teams will have to race against each other yet again, gaining one point for each victory. Weather conditions permitting, Wednesday and Thursday the second Round Robin will take place, with the same formula as the first Round Robin. The first four will proceed to the semi-final on Friday, the first team against the fourth and the second team against the third. Saturday the finalists will compete for the winner of the Nation's Cup.
