Harken Youth Match Racing
Pittwater

The predicted late afternoon thunderstorm brought an early finish to a better sailing day under sunny skies on the second day of the Grade 3 HARKEN International Youth Match Racing series at Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club today.
Three teams have now completed the round robin phase including Western Australia's South of Perth Yacht Club with seven wins and four losses, assuring their progression into the next repechage stage. Helmsman Keith SWINTON said "we are only 175kgs all up so may find it tough when the breeze freshens. We got some time up in the Elliott 5.9's thanks to our neighbours at Royal Perth and this has really helped us."

The top repechage berth is still up for grabs though and CYCA are certainly in there with seven wins and two matches left to sail. CYCA skipper Seve JARVIN showed RPNYC's Theo Mcdonnell that it is not a good idea to overtake to windward on the run, leaving them in dissaray with several aggressive luffs in today's last match. RPNYC will be amongst a number of teams fighting for their survival on Friday morning as only eight teams advance to the repechage. A hot and gusty NW wind is forecast ahead of a cool 20kt S change late morning. Stable SE breeze is predicted for Sunday's finals stage.
