Rolex Sydney Hobart Race
Sydney

The CYCA's Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race web site, developed by Sydney company Massive Interactive for the 2002 race, has been awarded a Silver World medal in the Best Innovative Feature category of this year's New York Festivals Interactive Awards.
"This is an award for online innovation that both Massive and the CYCA can take pride in achieving," said Massive's CEO Ron DOWNEY.

"As a client of Massive, the CYCA was very well prepared for this project and set exceptionally high design and technical standards. This was a good driver for Massive, ensuring an innovative approach by our people.

"Considering the status of these awards - with entries from over 26 countries and the vast resources of Nike, who won Gold, Silver is a very strong result.

"We're extremely proud of this award, the product and the team who worked tirelessly,"
he said.

CYCA Rear Commodore Martin James echoed Ron Downey's comments.

"The CYCA is extremely pleased to see its Rolex Sydney Hobart website accorded such a significant international recognition of its many innovative features.

"With the assistance of the experienced team at Massive Interactive we sought to develop a site that pushes the boundaries of the provision of real time race information to the viewing public. This was achieved in 2002, and through 2003 the site has been further developed so that for the 2003 Rolex Sydney Hobart, viewers will experience world-leading yacht race web technology,"
he added.

The New York Festivals oversees and runs six international awards competitions: Film & Video; Television Programming and Promotions; Radio Programming and Promotions; Television and Radio Advertising; Design and Print Advertising; and Interactive Media.

Founded in 1957, NYF now has representation in more countries than any other media competition. In 2003, it received over 14,200 entries from companies in 62 countries.

The 2003 Interactive competition was judged by a panel of new media experts worldwide under the aegis of Graham Kelly, Executive Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising in Singapore.

They were judged on the basis of screen design, logic and complexity of organisation, effective use of resources, creativity, technical quality, effective presentation of information, compelling interactivity and effective solution to the problem.

The address for the award winning web site is below, and family and friends of those competing in this year's Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, and other interested persons, will again be able to access up-to-date yacht positions and all the latest race news via this web site.
