Olympic Solidarity
Haikou

Recently completed in China was an Olympic Solidarity funded Technical Course for Coaches. The Level 3 Coaching Course was held on Hainan Island, Haikou in the south of China, attended by 41 participants.
Chris Kelly, an Australian Yachting Federation approved "National Train the Trainer Instructor" accepted the role agreed to be the course expert and led the coaching sessions for the 41 participants, which was set at Level 3.

Participants were existing Chinese Yachting Federation coaches, to train them to the next level of coaching and to assist them in their training programme for Chinese Sailors compete at International Events. The main areas of coaching focused on were race preparation and tactics for top level international regattas.

On completion of the course Meng Shuxia, the course co-ordinator and Secretary General of the Chinese Yachting Association commented:

"The course will be really a great benefit to the Chinese coaches in their future sailing coaching. The Chinese Yachting Association wish to work closely with ISAF in the future and have more training and technical courses for coaches, sailors and race officials."
