Australian Teams Announced

Grey Goose ISAF Team Racing World Championship 2005

Newport, Rhode Island, USA

Yachting Australia have announced the two teams that will represent Australia at the 2005 Grey Goose ISAF Team Racing World Championship taking place in Newport, Rhode Island, USA from 24 September-1 October.

The successful teams have been selected based on performance at the Australian Team Racing Championship held earlier this year. Both are from the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania and are:

Stewart WELLS
Michael SORRELL
Rod CHAMBERLAIN
Caroline ROSS
Tim CUBIT
Emma FLUKES

Team 2

George PEACOCK
Will KEYES
Nick JONES
Claire CUNNINGHAM
Blair SPAULDING
Prue CUNNINGHAM

Stewart WELLS, Tim CUBIT, Nick JONES, Rod CHAMBERLAIN and Caroline ROSS all featured in the Australia 2 team that finished eighth at the last ISAF Team Worlds in Auckland, New Zealand two years ago.

Lithuania's Juozas Bernotas came out on top in the Men's RS:X whilst Russia's Stefania Elfutina was triumphant in the Women's RS:X. Both sailors claim the first Abu Dhabi ISAF Sailing World Cup Final spots whilst Jock Calvert (AUS) and Joanna Sterling (AUS) picked up the Oceanic spots for the Emirati finale.

A tight group of five young Papua New Guinean (PNG) Laser sailors are stepping up their 2015 Pacific Games competition program using this week's ISAF Sailing World Cup Melbourne. PNG is one of 33 countries represented at the important Oceanic event, the largest Olympic sailing regatta in the southern hemisphere.
