When my old man started work on his episodes in S1 as Det. Patrick Mahon, he said “I think this show is going to be something special. You won’t believe the writing and the actors.” Never saw him so happy to play a corrupt drunk Irish cop.

Journalists are obsessed with their competition. This often strikes me as misguided. It leads to everyone doing slight variations of the same stories. Better if they ceded the wire/pool-like stories and each zeroed in on one or two focused enterprise themes.

Speculation starts over Dallas Keuchel’s availability. AL-to-NL move not the same off ramp it was for pitchers now that DH rule is universal but this is worth watching.

The White Sox made a smart, bold move when they signed Dallas Keuchel. Two postseason appearances later, they appear to have made another one on Saturday -- cutting ties w/Keuchel. My take for Forbes:

Robert Quinn led the NFL in sacks last season, making him an attractive trade piece for the Chicago Bears. He may open 2022 in Chicago but seems certain to end it with a contender. My take for Forbes:

Smoking was killing us. We took action to fix it. Drunk driving was killing us. We took action to fix it. Assault weapons are killing us. We sit and do NOTHING. What makes guns so goddamn special?

The Uvalde school district has its own police department with 5 officers and an SRO. Schools have metal detectors, barriers, active shooter alarms. They have social workers and anti-bullying programs and surveil students’ emotional health. It’s the guns.

How strange are these days for Willson Contreras? If it's not enough he doesn't know where he'll be in a couple months he doesn't even know how much money he's making? How's the guy supposed to do a budget? My take for Forbes:
