Funding your training

These courses are designed to give you professional qualifications enabling you to gain employment within the marine leisure and offshore wind farm support industries.

The courses offer exceptional value for money and by investing time and funds into your own training you are demonstrating your commitment to developing your employment opportunities within this sector.

All courses at Plas Menai are paid for in advance including our professional training courses. However there are ways to fund some or all of your training and Plas Menai will help support any applications for funding that are made.

Career Development Loans

Professional and Career Development Loans are bank loans to pay for courses and training that help with your career or help get you into work. Loans are usually offered at a reduced interest rate and the government pays interest while you’re studying.

Plas Menai is an approved provider of courses for the scheme and our provider number is: 2322

Loans can be applied for via Barclays or the Co-operative Banks

Bursaries

There are lots of bursaries and trust funds, however each one usually has a very specific remit and eligibility criteria. Should you find a scheme where you meet the eligibility and your chosen course meets the remit of the bursary or the fund, Plas Menai will provide any necessary information to support any application you may wish to make.

Searching for the right fund can be time consuming and difficult, as they are not always well advertised, however a good place to start would be the internet or your local library.

Wales

If you are a Welsh speaker, the organisation Menter Iaith may be able to fund part of your training. They are currently running a project which is part of the Welsh Government Rural Development Fund and the European Union. The project enables applicants to apply for up to 75% funding to gain qualifications in the outdoor sector. The project is running until December 2014.
